R: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Tells about your background in fashion and beauty and how this has helped influence what you currently do.
A: My mom actually owned a salon in Alabama, which is where I’m from, so I grew up in the salon and around that environment. From there, since I was about eight years old, I would always watch the Miss America Pageant and the Home Shopping Network and tell myself that I wanted to dress television personalities. Once I graduated high school, I went to community college but knew that I wanted to leave Tuscaloosa, AL. I decided to enroll in the International Academy of Design Technology in Tampa, FL and majored in Fashion Design and Marketing which allowed me to receive my Bachelors in Fine Arts.
Following art school, I had an internship at the Home Shopping Network doing fashion styling, and I became the first intern they ever hired in that department. I ended up working there for about 3 years, and then I had my first son which prompted me to step out on my own. From there, I started my online boutique as well as my event planning company, Artisyles Boutique which specializes in image consulting and event planning.
